What a Judge Told the Black WHCD Shooting Suspect That Has MAGA in a Complete Uproar
Seconds after a man was seen on surveillance footage barging past security at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner with multiple guns and knives, chaos gave way to swift action—he was tackled, arrested and charged. But just when the story seemed straightforward, a judge overseeing the case made comments that sparked a political firestorm from Republicans.
We previously told you about Cole Tomas Allen, the suspect accused of violently storming the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on April 25 around 8:30 p.m. at the Washington Hilton hotel. President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance and other Cabinet officials were evacuated by Secret Service, and more than 2,000 guests took cover.
After many Black folks suspected Trump’s third assassination attempt was “fake,” yet another controversy erupted after a courtroom hearing on Monday (May 4).
Magistrate Judge Zia Faruqui said he was “very troubled” with how Allen, a Black man from the Los Angeles area, has been treated behind bars while he awaits trial, The Hill reported. Judge Faruqui raised concerns that Allen has been repeatedly strip-searched, placed on suicide watch and kept in constant isolation from other inmates in a padded room with constant lighting.
“I am very troubled by what they indicate the conditions that you have been subjected to,” Faruqui told Allen, who was charged with one count of attempting to assassinate the president of the United States, transportation of a firearm and ammunition in interstate commerce with intent to commit a felony and discharge of a firearm during a crime of violence, according to NBC News.
His empathic remarks didn’t stop there, as the judge went on to apologize to the 31-year-old suspect. “I’m sorry. It sounds like things have not been the way they’re supposed to,” he continued, according to NBC News.
Judge Faruqui said he’s alarmed that Allen has not been granted due process under the law, especially since he was determined to be a suicide risk during an evaluation, but the evaluation was not included in his record, CBS reported.
“My concern remains if this is what’s happening in this case, what’s happening in every other case?” the judge told attorneys Monday, noting that those found guilty of killing people are housed with “less restrictive” conditions. Allen, according to The Associated Press, requested both a tablet and a Bible before his trial. He’s been denied both.
Faruqui said the conditions Allen has been subjected to “could drive a person crazy to be in that situation,” according to The Associated Press. That was all it took for some Republicans to fly off the handle.
Jeanine Pirro, U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, called out Faruqui’s apology to Allen on X. “Welcome to Washington, DC, where U.S. Magistrate Judge Faruqui believes a defendant armed to the teeth and attempting to assassinate the president is entitled to preferential treatment in his confinement compared to every other defendant,” she wrote.
Nick Sortor, a right-wing influencer, called Washington, D.C., judges “an absolute joke” on X. He added that Allen—who is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law—can “go f*** himself.”
Author and self-proclaimed “National Security Expert” Brigette Gabriel took her criticism of the judge’s comments a step further, suggesting he should be deported.
“Of course, a foreign-born judge with zero real allegiance to America apologizes to the alleged Trump assassin Cole Allen,” she ranted online. “These people hate everything we stand for, but demand all her benefits, protections, and power. Rogue judges like this have no business on the bench. DEPORT them.”
Cole Tomas Allen’s defense attorneys confirmed he is no longer on suicide status—which they characterized as “demeaning”— according to a court filing from Sunday afternoon, NBC News reported. Allen has not entered a plea.
INSANE! Of course, a foreign-born judge with zero real allegiance to America apologizes to the alleged Trump assassin Cole Allen.
