Lil Wayne’s Daughter Reveals Why Private Schools Turned Her Away

For Reginae Carter, growing up as the child of one of rap’s most influential figures came with more than just public attention; it also came with real-life consequences she couldn’t control. During a recent episode of her podcast, “Heir Time,” the socialite and daughter of Lil Wayne revealed that several private schools she hoped to attend turned her away, not because of her grades or behavior, but because of her father’s music.

Sitting down with Destiny Jones, the daughter of Nas, she reflected on her early education, sharing that she spent most of her childhood in Christian schools before attempting to transition elsewhere.

“I went to Christian school almost my whole life,” she said, explaining that when it came time to explore other options, “a lot of the private schools I wanted to go to… were blocking me because of what my dad was doing… because of the music he was making.”

Without naming names, she pointed to several major institutions in Atlanta that turned her away. “It was a lot of big schools in Atlanta, the biggest that rejected me,” she added, noting that she wasn’t alone in the experience as “they rejected a lot of celebrity kids.”

The podcaster doesn’t entirely dismiss their reasoning. In fact, she acknowledged she could understand it “to a certain extent.”

Still, there’s a line that, in her view, shouldn’t have been crossed.

“I’m a kid and that don’t got nothing to do with me,” she said. “You shouldn’t judge me off of what my dad’s got going on.”

But while her dad’s lyrics may have influenced how institutions perceived her, the actress’ relationship with her father tells a very different story.

In a previous episode of the podcast, released back in December, the tables were turned, and Carter was interviewed by both her mother, Toya Johnson, and Wayne himself.

The 27-year-old spoke candidly about what he’s like beyond the headlines. She shared that no matter how busy he is, he makes it a point to reach out to her every single day, which is something that has stuck with her over time.

“Actually, Dad, you probably are the reason why no man can say that he is too busy,” she said during the conversation. “My dad, no matter what, he gone text me or call me or something every day. Every single day.”

For Carter, that level of presence reframes what it means to show up.

“It’s no way that anybody can be that busy because that man is the busiest man I know,” she continued. “And if HE can call me? That’s what I love.”
