The tense exchange took place after the final buzzer signaled an end to Game 5, where the Knicks took home the series-ending win, beating the San Antonio Spurs and becoming NBA champions after 53 years. But while the court was filled with fun and good feelings, Brunson had a tense exchange with a local police officer while celebrating on the court.

Things all started when a fan approached Brunson and asked to take a picture with him while they were on the court celebrating. That’s when a police officer could be seen breaking up their moment and touching Brunson.

“Do me a favor, do me a favor. Step over here, thank you. People trying to leave,” the officer said while physically pushing Brunson aside. It should be noted here that the Knicks secured their major win while playing at the Spurs’ home in Texas.

“Yo, yo. But you don’t have to push,” Brunson responded.

Before things could escalate any further, another woman who was accompanying the talented Knicks player stepped in to let the officer know how things were going proceed.

“Alright, that’s it. This is the MVP of the Finals, I think we can let him,” she said, visibly annoyed.

After witnessing this ordeal, many fans were quick to express their outrage at the cop and appreciation to the unnamed woman for putting her foot down.

Another person wrote: “These folks abuse their power in that uniform.”

“That’s a beautiful woman who stood on business,” one other user said on TikTok.

Added another: “Give that woman a ring!”
