Ashlee Jenae’s Fiancé Breaks His Silence As More Questions Arise About Her Suspicious Death in Tanzania

Weeks after a Black Miami influencer died while celebrating her birthday and engagement in Tanzania, more questions remain surrounding the suspicious circumstances of her death. Local police ruled it a suicide. Still, Ashlee Jenae’s family and friends are demanding a full investigation into her whereabouts and that of her fiancée.

We previously told you that Ashlee– real name Ashly Robinson– was documenting her luxurious trip to Tanzania last month. From April 3 to April 9, the social media influencer posted videos and pictures alongside her boyfriend, Joe McCann, who proposed to her sometime during their vacation.

Since her death, McCann has faced backlash and criticism after claiming Robinson died by suicide. Now, her body has been laid to rest, and McCann was notably absent from the funeral service.

According to TMZ, Robinson’s family hasn’t heard anything from McCann since her tragic death. The fiancé did respond once to Robinson’s mother, who texted him after her daughter was found unresponsive. McCann reportedly responded ” promptly and appropriately” to the text, and that was the last time the Robinsons heard from him.

That is, until he broke his silence in a written statement this week. “There are no adequate words to describe the total devastation, emptiness, and shock I feel after losing my best friend, confidante and fiancée, Ashly Jenae Robinson,” McCann began.

He continued giving his condolences to Robinson’s parents. “Ashly’s death is an incomprehensible tragedy,” he said. “What Ashly desired most was to become a mother and to raise a family together. There is no question that she would have been an amazing mom.”

McCann’s remarks came just one day after reports revealed he was not invited to Robinson’s funeral in New Jersey, according to TMZ. Authorities reportedly withheld McCann’s travel documents as he continued to be questioned, so it is unclear if he remains in Tanzania. Although he has not been accused of any wrongdoing, officials noted that the couple had argued the day before Robinson’s death, which prompted hotel staff to put them in separate rooms.

Robinson’s father told TMZ that they haven’t received her personal belongings — including her engagement ring.
