Which Artist Will Perform Their NYC Anthem at the Knicks’ Parade? We Have An Idea

New York City has been in celebration mode since June 13, thanks to the Knicks finally clinching an NBA Finals win after 53 years, but the fun isn’t over just yet. In fact, things are about to get a lot more lit, thanks to a city-wide parade that’s scheduled to happen on June 18.

Judging by how folks have been outside in the streets over the last few days, we already know this parade is going to be a major affair. We also know that there will be lots of famous faces who are set to celebrate and potentially perform. So, it’s in the spirit of New York that we’ve rounded up a list of artists you could expect to see grab the mic and turn the city up at the parade!

Keep reading for more.

Ja Rule – “New York”

Of course, Ja Rule is at the top of this list. Something about his grit and the beat of this song makes him feel like an immediate contender for the parade! We just know it’ll be lit.

Jay-Z & Alicia Keys – “Empire State of Mind”

OK, OK, we know this song has been overused and overplayed. But seeing as how Alicia Keys just performed the song at the Tribeca Film Festival the night the Knicks won, it’s not too far-fetched to believe that she’ll pop up again. And since Jay-Z has been outside more recently, he could also make an appearance and make this a really special occasion!

50 Cent – “I Get Money”

No matter what you think about 50 Cent, there’s something about the thought of him screaming “I run New York” while atop a float with the Knicks all vibing around him that just feels right. We kinda need to see this ASAP!

Wu-Tang Clan – “Bring Da Ruckus/C.R.E.A.M” Medley

This should really feel like a no-brainer, especially since Wu-Tang performed at the same iconic Game 4 of the NBA Finals, when the Knicks came back from a nearly 30-point deficit to win the game. They have to be at the parade. They just have to!

Nas – “N.Y. State of Mind”

Can you ever really go wrong with having Nas pop out anywhere and blessing the mic? Yeah, we didn’t think so either.

Grandmaster Flash – “New York, New York”

For the old school New York music lovers, how dope would it be to see Grandmaster Flash dish out this hit? The Knicks and the whole city would be having a cool moment!

Fat Joe & Terror Squad – “Lean Back”

Every time the beat drops to “Lean Back,” it just automatically transports you to another dope place and time. Since Fat Joe is such a die-hard Knicks fan, it would feel apropos to let him onstage to do this song!

The Diplomats – “The Dipset Anthem”

With the success of The Diplomats’ 2021 Verzuz battle still on people’s minds all these years later, it makes sense to have Cam’ron and the crew partying with the Knicks on this special day!

Mobb Deep – “Shook Ones”

We know Mobb Deep was never the same again after Prodigy passed away, but we still have enough faith in Havoc to bring the necessary energy if he got tapped for the parade! It would be a good way to honor his late friend and celebrate the city, right?

Lord Tariq & Peter Gunz – “Déjà Vu (Uptown Baby)”

This Lord Tariq and Peter Gunz song has such an iconic opening line, it almost feels disrespectful to not have them out at the parade to perform it! Come on now, we know you can see blue and orange vision.

Rakim – “New York (Ya Out There?)”

You can’t tell us that Rakim has a song literally called “New York (Ya Out There?)” and you wouldn’t want him to perform it while celebrating the Knicks? If you did, you’d be lying to yourself because you know this would be some straight heat!

Bad Bunny – “Nuevayol”

Yes, we know Bad Bunny isn’t technically Black. But he definitely earned a plate at the cookout with his previous Super Bowl Halftime Show performance from earlier this year. Plus, New York is a melting pot. The parade needs a little “Nuevayol!”

DMX – “Ruff Ryders Anthem”

While we understand that no one can really bring the flavor like the late DMX can, there are still some former Ruff Ryders who could do the song a little justice! It would be both honorable for DMX and a nostalgic moment for Knicks and New York lovers!
