Cécred is Going Live to Show Folks How to Properly Comb Out Their Locs

Ever since Jay-Z debuted his afro at The Roots Picnic, folks online have been confused about how he managed to turn his locs into a voluminous braid out, rivaling the stunning twist outs we’ve seen on his daughter Blue Ivy. Well, Cécred is coming to everyone’s rescue to answer all questions and demystify the process of combing out locs.

As we previously told you, Jay-Z’s hairstylist, Letisia Ravelo, did an interview with Loren LoRosa explaining that it took her, Houston-based loctician Marie Munoz and a team of other stylists six days to undo Hov’s iconic shoulder-length wick locs. In the interview, Ravelo also cleared up common rumors that Jay-Z was wearing a lace front the entire time by noting that it took him eight years to grow his incredible head of hair.

However, despite Ravelo’s interview and the fact that combing out locs is a popular method to take down the hairstyle on social media apps like TikTok, folks continued to be mystified by it, with some calling it impossible. But on Friday, June 5, Cécred will be answering everyone’s dying questions by going live on its TikTok to do a loc comb out in real time.

In an Instagram post, the brand confirmed that stylists will be giving tips on how to shed minimal hair while taking down weaves and locs. They’ll even be doing a giveaway of some Cécred goodies.

“WE’RE GOING LIVE! Tune in this Friday at 2pm/5pm ET on our TikTok @cecred for a take down you won’t want to miss. Will you be there?” they asked in their caption.

The answer has been a resounding yes from fans who are dying to know some of the best haircare tips in the game.

“This is so perfect I’m taking down my braids next week. I need all the tips,” wrote one user in the Instagram comments.

Another added that those who don’t believe combing out locs is possible should be watching: “I hope all the people saying it’s impossible to comb out locs will be tuning in, but I know they won’t.”

And a third user had to give credit to the marketing team for finding the perfect way to make Cécred the focus of the loc conversation: “Again, the marketing and social media team deserve the biggest raise and an all-expenses-paid, three-week vacation in Lagos. Let me clear my schedule, lol.”
