Why Ray J’s Latest Interview May Be a Sign of a New Stable Chapter in His Life
For years, it seemed like every other month, there was a wild Ray J headline taking over the news cycle about his involvement in some shenanigans. Now, however, it appears the “One Wish” singer may have finally turned over a new leaf, as evidenced by a recent interview.
Ray recently sat down as the latest guest on “The Breakfast Club,” where he gave the hosts an update on his life, including the status of his relationship with his sister Brandy and his upcoming fight against Orlando Brown. If you’ll remember, he alarmed his fans and followers in January when he said that he wouldn’t live to see 2027, citing health challenges and alleging that his heart was “beating at about 25 percent.”
However, a few months later, Ray was spotted in May inside a boxing ring with internet personality DeShawn Raw a.k.a. Super Hot Fire, where the “Moesha” star was subsequently knocked out and hospitalized following a TKO. Not long after that, he made a surprising appearance at the BET Awards, where host and comedian Druski picked him out of a crowd and quipped that he was supposed to be dead.

“Why you lie to us, man? We thought you was gon be dead? Ray J, you know that’s wrong, man. You lied to all of us!” Druski said at the time. “I was praying for you and everything. We was rooting for you!”
Now, nearly two months later, it appears as if Ray might be in a better place mentally and physically. During the conversation with “The Breakfast Club,” Ray made it clear that his past antics were “unacceptable” and that he’s done some healing behind the scenes to get to where he is now.
“What’s crazy is that I looked at a lot of the tape and videos. I been in here focused, and I been in here crazy. Both. And some of the crazy times I been in here was just unacceptable,” he said.
He went on to say that rather than ignoring the sound advice from others around him, he’s now moving by faith, doing the work, relying on God, and considering other people’s perspectives.
What was even more eye-opening was the fact that the “Last Wish” singer admitted to going out on a “crash out campaign,” saying that he regretted not handling things differently. He also mentioned that he felt he needed to make a U-turn in his behavior after realizing that his young children would eventually be able to look back on all his questionable behavior online.
“I gotta make some adjustments going into this next phase of life,” he said.
Given Ray’s calmer demeanor, cohost Charlamagne Tha God even praised the singer for appearing more stable and calm. In the comments section, viewers also commended him for seemingly being back on the good foot.
“I love this healthier sounding, more calm & mature behaving Ray J,” wrote one user in part on Facebook.
One other user wrote, “This is the most sense he’s made on an interview in years.”
Others expressed their hope that he remains on a positive path.
“He was Out of Complete Control..He even sounds different now..I hope and pray he stays in this headspace,” said another.
Added another: “He definitely looks healthy and sounds mentally healthy. Sometimes the best thing family can do is distance themselves but still love you.”
