Stevie Wonder’s Ex-Fiancée Speaks Out About Their Ongoing Eviction Drama

Stevie Wonder rarely makes headlines for anything other than his beloved music, but all that changed thanks to a new interview from his ex-fiancée, Carmen Efferson. And what she has to say will truly shock you.

We previously told you that Efferson and the “Isn’t She Lovely?” singer have been embroiled in a legal battle throughout October 2026. According to court documents, Wonder petitioned a court to evict Efferson from their Los Angeles home, even though she’s reportedly been living there since 1988 under a verbal agreement.

According to the complaint, Efferson allegedly breached the agreement by refusing to allow an insurance inspector access to the property, despite receiving advance notice. Wonder’s attorneys claim she ignored a 30-day eviction notice and are seeking to terminate the agreement, recover attorney fees, and collect damages for her continued occupancy.

However, it looks like Efferson isn’t leaving without a fight, as evidenced by a new interview she gave to the Daily Mail. She described the “Superstitious” singer as a “manipulator” and “gaslighter” and insisted that the verbal agreement be observed and that she is rightfully owed the house.

“He’s going to paint this like I am the one who is lying, and there is no talking to this fool,” Efferson told the outlet. “I’m so sick of someone like him always getting away with this sh*t.”

She continued in part, suggesting that it was Wonder who insisted she stay in the home.  “Nobody wants to say this, but I know that he is a gaslighter and a manipulator…I didn’t even want the house at first, but he kept insisting. I’ve never been a materialistic person, and I never asked for a house. But we came to an agreement, a verbal one, that this would be my house,” she said.

Additional details about Efferson’s alleged refusal to allow the insurance inspector on the property reveal that she also reportedly sent Wonder’s legal team a letter threatening to contact law enforcement if they attempted to enter, per E! News. After she allegedly blocked the insurance inspection, Wonder’s attorneys claim the property’s insurance policy was canceled, putting him at risk of financial loss, which then prompted them to issue her a 30-day eviction notice.

The notice stated that her right to remain in the home had been terminated and warned that failing to leave by the deadline could result in trespassing claims and financial damages.

Neither Wonder nor Efferson has commented further on her interview.
