Sherrone Moore’s Ex-Assistant Drops Bombshell Accusations About Their Secret Affair
Social media was on fire when University of Michigan head football coach Sherrone Moore was abruptly fired last December. The scandal erupted after an anonymous tip alerted university officials about a years-long, undisclosed affair between a married Moore and his assistant. Now, Paige Shiver is pulling back the curtain on their relationship in an emotional interview.
Just in case you’ve been living under a rock, The Root previously told you that Moore was canned on Dec. 10 after the school announced credible evidence determined he had an inappropriate relationship with Paige Shiver. However, Shiver also confirmed the relationship to the school and cut off all communication with Moore—a married father of three young daughters—before all hell seemed to break loose.
That same day, authorities said Moore showed up at Shiver’s home and threatened to self-harm. Later that afternoon, he was arrested in Saline, Michigan, and faced a felony and three misdemeanor charges after their affair ended, ESPN reported at the time.

Now, Shiver is finally speaking about their secret relationship, claiming Moore had “complete control” over every facet of her life in a bombshell interview with “Good Morning America.” In a interview shared on Thursday (April 23), Shiver said, “Here’s a man that had complete control over me. Over my emotions, over my career. And he knew that, and he used it against me.”
Shiver claimed Moore “could fire me in a second” after she was promoted to be his executive assistant in 2024 when he became the Wolverines’ head football coach. But that’s not all. She also told host Linsey Davis, “Every time I tried to pull away, every time I tried to try and get out of even Michigan, he always had a story, always had a way to pull me in, and making me feel that I couldn’t leave him because he was so miserable without me.”
But according to Shiver, the emotional tether Moore used to keep her close wasn’t the only thing binding them together.
In her most staggering revelation yet, she claimed she got pregnant by Moore. However, the pregnancy was complicated by Pompe disease— a rare metabolic disorder caused by alpha-glucosidase deficiency, according to the Cleveland Clinic— and Shiver was advised by doctors to terminate the pregnancy because “it wouldn’t be right or healthy for me to keep the baby.”
Despite wanting to carry the pregnancy to term, Shiver claimed Moore was supportive of her decision. “He said, ‘You have to do what’s right for your body,’” she alleged.
Shiver and Moore began a consensual relationship in 2022 when she was an intern, according to reports. She told Davis that she feared for her life when she ended their relationship and when he came to her home. “All of a sudden, I hear footsteps, and they’re getting closer and louder, and I’m like, ‘Crap.’ So, I run to my door to try to lock it, he barges in, and he’s standing like ‘this’ close to me. And he said, ‘You ruined my life. Why would you do this to me?’ I start backing up, and he starts following me,” she recalled.
She said Moore, who has been married to Kelli Moore since July 2015, said he should’ve gone to jail after he allegedly started “grabbing butter knives” and telling her she “ruined his life.” However, he will not.
After pleading no contest, District Court Judge Cedric Simpson sentenced Moore to 18 months’ probation and fined just over $1,000 on April 14, ESPN reported.

Although Shiver confessed she thought she was in love with Moore, she has since realized that was not the case after the dust settled. She told Davis, “Back then, I did, but obviously looking back at things and really reflecting on what happened, what was happening, that’s not love at all.”
