Rick Ross Breaks Silence After Being Spotted Traveling Commercial

Rapper Rick Ross may have recently dubbed himself the “BOAT” (that’s the “Biggest Of All Time,” for those who didn’t know), but that doesn’t mean he’s too big to humble himself and move like regular folks every once in a while. In fact, his latest move proved exactly that. Unfortunately for him, it also sparked some major backlash—and now, the rapper is speaking out.

If you’ve been on social media over the last 24 hours, then you may have seen a couple of pictures of him dressed in a hoodie and sweats while sitting at what appears to be a Frontier Airlines passenger gate. The pictures—while blurry— appear to show the “Diced Pineapples” rapper minding his business before noticing that he’d gotten “caught,” per se, by a curious onlooker.

By the time the photos began making the rounds on social media, commenters wasted no time clowning the highly successful rapper. Many questioned why he was taking a commercial flight to begin with—especially given his massive wealth—and demanded to know the whereabouts of his famous private jet.

“You can’t trust fat rap niggas like Rick Ross. Everything they rap about is fake. Look at him flying economy, even I be at airport lounges instead of being with the commoners. Drake would NEVER, cause Drake is a real one,” wrote one user, referencing a bar off the Toronto rapper’s latest album, “Iceman.”

The line in question? “If I’m lyin’, I’m flyin’ economy, I bet I know who I see.”

Said another person, in part: “Rick Ross got caught flying economy and I’m not about to extend him any grace on this one. As much trash as this man talks about everybody? He called 50 Cent broke. He said Drake’s album flopped when it went platinum in three weeks. Now look at him, folded up in coach.”

Well, it looks like all the online discourse finally made its way back to Ross and his camp as he decided to post a video on Instagram, providing some context to what fans had seen.

“For the ones who want to know where my jet at, obviously didn’t get the memo; it’s being updated with StarLink,” he said. “You know what StarLink is? Yeah, that’s the half-a-million-dollar WiFi… Yeah, that’s where my jet at. And I chose to fly commercial to go to Colombia to go party with Trick Daddy and Ball Greezy at the Escape Estates.”

He went on to share that he actually had a great time, noting that anytime he hops on a plane, it’s strictly to make money. Ross then cautioned critics against clowning “young hustlers” for how they choose to travel, defending anyone just trying to get to their next bag.

“And coming from a boss, I gotta let you know how this go. When Ricky Rozay take flights, its six digits…But don’t y’all ever look down on no young hustlers who if they walking, riding a bicycle, if they riding on a train. Don’t you ever look down on no young hustlers going to get some money,” Ross said.

He also explained why the viral moment would be the perfect opportunity to collaborate with Delta, joking that he now felt compelled to buy an entire wing of the airport and reminding critics that he can choose to fly commercial whenever he wants. Then, in perhaps the most important twist, he called out people who are making his flying an issue instead of the Karmelo Anthony verdict.

“Y’all giggling at all the little Black brothas. It’s a war going on and the goofies don’t see it,” Ross said near the end of the video.

And this is where we all could learn a thing or two about his response. Not only did he shut his haters down by giving them context about his money and private jet, but he also redirected the chatter towards more productive causes. By saying his piece, lowkey telling us to stay out of rich people’s business and put our energy into something actually worth discussing—he just put on a masterclass on how to turn a negative into something worthwhile and meaningful!
