Meghan Markle Claps Back at Critics Over Posting Her Kids Online

Meghan Markle isn’t taking too kindly to people calling her a hypocrite over posting pictures of her young children online. And now, she’s clearing the air and clapping back all at the same time.

If you don’t know what we’re talking about, let us bring you up to speed. You see, Markle recently decided to post various images of her two kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, in honor of their birthdays, family trips, and special holidays on her official Instagram. However, they’re not traditional pictures in that she’s chose to hide their faces with emojis in her Instagram story or in static posts to her page and often her children’s faces are strategically hidden from the camera’s view.

Take the photo she posted on Wednesday for Lilibet’s fifth birthday, for instance. While the family photo is adorable, the child’s back is to the camera.

Well, in news that should surprise no one, haters of Markle are calling her out for it online, citing her actions as “hypocritical” on the account of how vocal she is about the protection of children online and on social media. The most recent example came in April 2026, when Markle delivered a powerful message about the dangers of online bullying and trolls to students at Australia’s Swinburne University of Technology. Given how outspoken she has been about protecting children, some folks are questioning why she’d even post her young children online in the first place, since it feels contrary to her stance.

“Oh, and Meghan and Harry are still posting their kids on the internet while lecturing the rest of us about the dangers of social media. Lili may be another year older, but in Sussex world, some things never change,” wrote one user in part on X/Twitter.

“I’m sorry, but Meghan Markle is utterly DELUSIONAL to think that her social media strategy surrounding her children protects their ‘privacy’ and ‘agency’. She must know that her children are dissected and shredded on social media constantly,” one other user wrote. “The only ethical decision in the face of that is to NOT post anything about them at all. She doesn’t need to show her children, lots of celebrities with large public social media profiles keep their children away from it, and certain states are even passing laws that protect children from being exploited by their influencer parents for clicks and engagement. Meghan knows her children generate buzz and it’s why she posts them. She’s an absolute hypocrite, who (in my opinion) is totally willing to exploit her children and open them up to criticism if it gets her clicks.”

But, as evidenced by a new statement Markle put out on Thursday, her pictures are exactly in line with where her values lie.

“The Duchess has always been clear that there is a distinction between sharing moments from her life and exposing her children to public scrutiny. By obscuring their faces, she is demonstrating the very principle she advocates for: giving children privacy, agency, and protection in an increasingly digital world,” a spokesperson for her said to Newsweek.

They continued by saying that shielding the children’s faces, it gives parents the flexibility and freedom to share intimate, personal moments all while not violating the safe space and privacy of anyone involved.

“Far from being contradictory, by concealing their faces she is actually reflecting the message she delivered in Geneva: that parents can choose to share family experiences while still taking deliberate steps to protect identities, privacy, and digital footprint,” the statement concluded.
