Megan Thee Stallion Shares What She’s Learned About Love and Life Since Klay Thompson Breakup

It’s been months since Megan Thee Stallion publicized her shocking breakup with NBA star Klay Thompson. Now, she’s opening up about how she’s been handling the aftermath of her heartbreak and the lessons she’s learned about love and herself as a result.

As we previously told you, in April 2026, Megan took to her Instagram stories to let her fans and followers know that she and Klay were over, citing alleged cheating and mistreatment as the reasons for their split. After releasing an official statement, both she and Klay refused to comment publicly on the matter in the initial days following the breakup.

Now, it looks as if the “Bourbon” rapper is in a reflective state, as she recently opened up about that difficult time in a new cover interview for InStyle Magazine. Speaking about this current moment in her life, her budding business empire, and growing through heartache, Megan shared that fallout from the breakup left her feeling like she’d “been put through the washing machine and the dryer with tins, shovels, and a cactus.”

Though she described the time as “rough,” she revealed a few lessons she’s learned through the experience.

“What’s meant for you is always going to work out. And if something is constantly making you feel uncomfortable, just on edge all the time, you probably are not supposed to be there,” she explained. “God will always make you uncomfortable when something is not meant for you. I think I just kept trying to make pieces fit that didn’t belong, trying to fit myself into someone else’s life. I was losing myself a little bit. I am now in the space of finding me again.”

Megan went on to share some non-negotiables when it comes to dating, including not tolerating disrespect and expecting the person she’s with to allow her to be who she is authentically, even if that means she’s constantly working, interacting with fans, or always on the go.

“I love being me. I love rapping. I love interacting with my fans. I love shooting music videos. I’m not a person who is in the house 24-7. I’m never going to be that. And whoever dates me is gonna have to just understand, like, she is her own person. She’s her own boss. I cannot be minimized,” she shared.

She continued by asserting that moving forward, she’d no longer be “behind any man” and that the goal is to now be “equals ” with her partner, and not take a backseat to who she is, her goals, her dreams, and everything that she wants for herself.

“I think I’ve just learned this is the type of person that I want to be with. This is what I will tolerate; this is what I won’t tolerate. And if you can’t take that, we just gotta respectfully go our separate ways,” Megan said.
