Megan Thee Stallion Says Queen Latifah is the Inspiration For Her Career Moves

When it comes to rappers who can successfully expand their reach beyond music, could Megan Thee Stallion become the next Queen Latifah? That’s the question some are asking after the Texas-born rapper’s latest interview. And if we’re honest, we can see the answer being yes.

The “Traumazine” rapper recently sat down as the latest guest on the “IMO With Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson” podcast. Although the conversation covered everything from Megan’s upbringing to her upcoming “Act III” album, and more, the conversation got particularly interesting when the “Houston Hottie” revealed that she had bigger plans than just being a successful rapper. She noted that there’s one industry legend whose example she’s following.

“I’m really wanting to take my artistry bigger. I don’t only want to do music; I do want to get into acting. That’s just something I really want to pursue right now. Queen Latifah is my girl, and I’m definitely like a student of hers,” Megan explained. “And luckily, I’m also a friend of hers now. And I always got to give her her flowers because she is just so inspirational. And I’m like, ‘OK, Queen Latifah, this is my route.’ This is who I’m modeling this after.”

While it’s hard to imagine anyone coming close to the Queen, if we actually zoom out a bit, we can see the early seeds of that trajectory. Megan has become an entrepreneur, thanks to her Hot Girl Productions company, similar to Queen Latifah’s Flavor Unit Entertainment.

Megan has also landed countless beauty brand deals with cosmetic companies like NYX Cosmetics and Revlon, just like Queen’s deal with CoverGirl. The “Savage” rapper has even branched out into acting, with projects like “Big Mouth,” “The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins,” and even in the Broadway production of “Moulin Rouge!”

And what makes this comparison even better is knowing that the “U.N.I.T.Y.” rapper has already given Megan her cosign, performing with her at Coachella and even hanging with her offstage.

“She’s so cool, she’s so fun. She’s so very, very talented and strong in her spot. And I love that energy carrying hip-hop into the future,” Queen said of Megan on an October 2025 episode of “The Jennifer Hudson Show.”

While we know Megan has a long way to go before she becomes “The Equalizer” or the queen of romcoms and sitcoms like Queen, with a bit more time, Megan may just end up carving out her similar Latifah lane after all.
