According to ELLE, the look was taken straight off the runway just hours before Zendaya hit the red carpet. The story goes like this: while Roach was in attendance at the Schiaparelli show in Paris for Fashion Week, he saw the amazing dress go down the runway and knew it was perfect for the “Spider-Man” star. However, he knew getting the dress to Zendaya would be a challenge, as the premiere he wanted her to wear it for was slated to happen just hours later.
In a move that feels like something straight out of “The Devil Wears Prada,” both Roach and the Schiaparelli dress boarded a private jet that same day to get it to London in time.
“I have a private jet waiting for me and for her [the dress], to get that dress off of her, to get it to London to put it on a very special girl,” Roach told a French reporter while backstage at the Schiaparelli show.
“Why this one? Is it because it’s giving ‘Odyssey?’” the reporter asked coyly.
“Maybe!” Roach replied with a laugh.
