Katt Williams Roasts Kevin Hart in Epic Fashion, Here’s What You Missed
While fans of Kevin Hart may still be chuckling at his star-studded “Roast of Kevin Hart” that aired on Netflix over the weekend, most people can’t stop talking about the surprise guest who popped up near the end: his comedy nemesis, Katt Williams. If you know anything about their past, you likely already know how this went down.
For context, Hart and Williams haven’t seen eye to eye for years, thanks in large part to a spur-of-the-moment dig Hart took at the “First Sunday” actor around 2018. This would later lead to Williams’ scorched Earth “Club Shay Shay” appearance in 2024, where Hart became the comedian’s main target. Most of his criticisms hinged on the allegations that the “Ride Along” actor frequently secured leading roles that had originally been offered to Williams first.
What happened after that was a little bit of a back and forth after Hart decided to indirectly, directly address William’s words, telling The Independent later that same year: “It’s not worth my time for a response or an engagement. It’s extremely beneath me in the position that I’m currently in…I think those that can’t talk about those that can.”
Since then, Williams has rarely taken the time to address Hart directly—or at least that was the case until Hart’s celebrity roast took place on Sunday. In a surprise move, Netflix invited Williams to join in the fun, and while there were a few jabs here and there, there were more than enough laughs to go around. Here are some of the best parts.
Katt Addresses the Elephant in the Room
Within the first few seconds, it was clear why Williams decided to grace Hart’s event with his presence, despite the two having somewhat of a checkered past. Williams didn’t hesitate to let the audience know that he was only there for one reason.
“I was surprised they invited me. That’s how little star power you have. They had to start inviting your enemies. I said, ‘I hate him.’ They said, ‘Come anyway.’ Very humble of me to be at your GOAT roast tonight, Kevin. For the people at home wondering: ‘Why is the Katt man doing this?’ For the money b*tch,” he said.
Katt Rehashes Kevin’s Alleged Attendance at Diddy Parties
Celebs popping up at parties thrown by Sean “Diddy” Combs was also a topic of conversation when Williams appeared on “Club Shay Shay.” So it should come as no surprise that he’d try to link Hart to being in the house a time or two. But, as you might expect, he did so in a hilarious way.
“I want to be clear: just because Kevin went to Diddy parties does not mean he did something wrong. The fact that he gets all quiet when you bring it up—that means he did something wrong!” he said.
Katt Slams Kevin’s Movies With Black Audiences
In another funny moment during the roast, Williams decided to go after how Hart’s movies perform with Black audiences. It definitely wasn’t a compliment, but it was for damn sure funny.
“If you’re going to see a Kevin Hart movie, do yourself a favor, see it in a Black theater so you can hear words like ‘I want my motherf*cking money back!’ And ‘I want my money back, too!’ Or ‘this is some bullsh*t, I want my money back,’” Williams said. “Even The Rock [Dwayne Johnson] can’t save your ass.”
Katt & Kevin Squash Their Beef…Or Did They?
“Listen, I could go on all night hating on Kevin Hart. I have perfected it. But at some point, you’ve got to look yourself in the mirror and say, ‘Do I really wanna have beef with the rabbit Snowball from ‘The Secret Life of Pets 2?’” Williams asked. “Yes, I do, Kevin. Yes, I do.”
But by the time his set was over, Hart expressed that he respected Williams and was a fan of his work. He then offered an olive branch to him to officially end their feud.
“I wanna be a brother, I wanna be a friend. Katt, I wanna move on. Can we move on? Can we do that?” Hart said as Williams shook his hand and welcomed him in an embrace.
But as some folks on TikTok and other social media platforms noted, Williams never explicitly said yes, so there’s a large possibility that we could see him take shots at the “Think Like a Man” star again at some point (especially if he gets wind of what Hart said when he walked off stage).
Katt Explains Why You Can’t Cancel Kevin
Addressing Hart’s past comments about the LGBTQ+ community, Williams made it clear that no matter what, Hart was “un-cancellable.” But not for the reasons you might think.
“They tried to cancel him for being homophobic. And I don’t get it, I’m saying the guy who’s obsessed with shopping sprees and fitness, always surrounded by 10 dudes and Chelsea Handler and an oiled up, Half-Samoan bodybuilder, and a vegan restaurant, and bought yoga pants. You think that guy is homophobic?” Williams asked around the 4-minute mark of his roast. “That guy is a fairy, b*tch! He is not—that’s the gayest man I’ve ever met. You slay, Queen!
