Jeezy Gives Surprising Love Life Update After Messy Divorce From Jeannie Mai
Rapper Jeezy may not be married to his ex Jeanni Mai anymore, but that doesn’t mean he’s closed off from exploring love. Well, self-love, to be exact. And what he has to share now about his dating life just might surprise you!
If you’ll remember, as we’ve long documented, the former couple had been making headlines regularly thanks to their messy divorce. From the time they initially filed in September 2023 until things were finalized in June 2024, it had been nothing but complete chaos between the two thanks to: Mai’s allegations of verbal and physical abuse; Jeezy’s claims that the former “The Real” cohost was “gatekeeping” their 3-year-old daughter Monaco; a previous dispute that ended up with local authorities getting involved; infidelity allegations and more.
But as of June 2025, the “Put On” rapper was miraculously focused on moving forward in a peaceful way and ready to put all the drama from his divorce in the rearview mirror. Fast forward exactly one year later, and it seems as if Jeezy’s actualized that sentiment and taken the reins of his love life and steered it in an all-new direction.

Sitting down for an interview on the TODAY Show recently, the “Trap or Die” rapper explained that instead of pouring his energy into a potential partner, he’s instead focusing on putting it back into himself and urged other fellas to do the same.
“I’m dating myself right now and I feel like, as a man, you should always take time to be with yourself,” he explained.
The popular rapper and author then took it a step further and explained how he has a standing date with himself every Wednesday night, where he gets all decked out and treats himself to sushi.
“I get dressed up, I do the whole thing. And I go out and I have a bottle of sake, a bottle of wine and my favorite sushi and date myself. I think it’s amazing,” he explained.
For what it’s worth, Jeezy isn’t alone in hopping on the “solo date” trend. If you take one look at Instagram and TikTok, you’ll see video after video of people taking themselves out for a little public one-on-one time.
According to Healthline, there are some positive benefits to engaging in that practice, as a 2023 study by Scientific Reports found that “the negative effects of being alone were either greatly reduced or completely nullified when the individual was spending time alone intentionally. Participants who spent more time alone reported decreased feelings of stress and pressure.”
So the next time you feel bummed out because a date canceled, go out anyway! You might just walk away feeling much better than you realized.
