Enough with the Haters: 5 Reasons You Should Watch ‘All’s Fair’ on Hulu

Teyana Taylor and Niecy Nash are about to be back on our small screens thanks to the second season of Hulu’s “All’s Fair,” which drops on Wednesday! And while some folks have a lot to say about why you shouldn’t watch the oft-over-the-top Ryan Murphy-created show, let us be the ones to convince you otherwise.

Yes, we’ve heard the chatter; we’ve seen the criticism! But there are still a few reasons why folks ought to tune in! Let’s get into it!

The Fashions Are Impeccable

Let’s start with the most important thing: the fashions. Quite literally, every single woman on this show is dressed impeccably. And yes, we’re even including Kim Kardashian in this. Outside of the fire power suits they often wear, there are so many lavish coats, divine dresses, and all-around stellar looks—this show may as well be a runway show more than anything!

The other cool thing about it is that, for Nash’s character specifically, she was adamant about highlighting Black designers with her outfits. That’s probably why we can’t get this leopard monochrome look from season one out of our heads. Take a look at it above get into what the costume designers had to say about curating the looks here.

The Storylines and Dialogue Are Truly Insane and Messy

Outside of things looking gorgeous on this show, another reason to tune in is the fact that it’s chock-full of truly unhinged storylines, scenes, and dialogue. What other show (outside of a soap opera) can you find where someone’s husband is sleeping with and impregnating their wife’s assistant? Or where the wife goes full-blown Beyoncé in the “Hold Up” music video on the mistress? Or when a widow chills with her dead husband for days on end before calling the police to come get his body? Or when an ex-rival stands on top of a table during a business meeting and spews so much vitriol and hatred it leaves everyone speechless?

It’s no wonder why Murphy gets called the white Tyler Perry for all the mess, raunchy scenes and wild dialogue he puts into his shows! But if you need more proof, check out this scene from season one, and you’ll see exactly what we’re talking about! Viewer discretion and some earphones are advised because it goes extremely left here!

The Acting Is Top Notch

Ok, so yes, we just told you that dialogue can be a bit much and a bit over the top. But the way Nash, Taylor, Glenn Close, and Paulson deliver their respective lines makes it more than bearable. If you really take a minute to see what each actress is bringing to the show, you’ll barely notice the crazy words coming out of their mouth.

Specifically, Nash, Paulson, and Close give the melodramatic show a level of much-needed gravitas that works in beautiful contrast to the otherwise campy vibes that permeate it. There’s a particular scene between Close and Paulson in the first season where they face each other over a lunch date that’s equal parts entertaining and ridiculous, but very well acted. Believe us when we tell you that if you watch “Beauty in Black,” or any of the daytime soap operas, and find any enjoyment out of them—add “All’s Fair” to your list. You’ll quickly find the vibes are more of the same, except with better outfits, bigger star power, and some addictive plots!
