A Look Inside Carmelo Anthony’s Lavish, Artsy New York Mansion

If you’ve ever wanted to see what the lifestyle of a retired NBA star looks like, look no further than the sprawling mansion of former New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers player Carmelo Anthony.

Located in Westchester, the interior of the 13,000-square-foot home was designed in part by Cassandre Bonhomme, who helped bring Anthony’s vision of an artistic suburban pad to life. Complete with a massive sneaker closet, a custom bar, and a four-door garage, this sprawling abode is also home to the basketball star’s impressive art collection, which he has been building for over 15 years.

Notable Artwork Collection

Upon walking in, you’re greeted by a handful of amazing artworks from various Black and African designers. A painting of boxing legend Muhammad Ali sits at the top of the stairs, serving as an anchor to the theme throughout the home.

“I always looked for up-and-coming artists, and I just look for what I like. And I realized I didn’t have to like something because somebody else like it. I like it because it appeals to my mind, it appeals to my spirit. Whether it’s a dollar or $10,” he told Architectural Digest, who brought us the images from his home.

The Music /Green Room

Dubbed the most important room in the house, this front room is what Anthony calls the “music room” — likely due to the baby grand piano and record player that lie within it. But it should be called the overall creative room due to the artwork and inspiring nature of the decor.

Special features include Anthony’s first designed Jordan collection shoe, a Kehinde Wiley skateboard, a golden shovel used to break ground for the Carmelo Anthony Center in Syracuse, New York, Nelson Makamo artwork, a record player and vinyl collection.

The Bar

Explaining how he got into wine around the mid-2000s, Anthony’s bar now boasts a robust collection of first-growth Bordeaux, champagnes and more.

The bar also features artwork of James Baldwin, Malcom X, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., as well as Anthony’s high school jersey.

The Office

The room where the “checks get cut” per Anthony, the office serves as his sanctuary and boasts custom seating, more artwork and a collection of books.

The office has custom chairs designed by Anthony himself, a memorabilia wall and a collection of his 2021 memoir, “Where Tomorrows Aren’t Promised: A Memoir of Survival and Hope.”

The Lounge

Inspired by the ease and comfort of a hotel lobby, the lounge is the ultimate relaxation area for guests.

Features include a chessboard, fireplace, Nelson Makamo artwork, and custom dining table with seating for 10.

Bedroom

Though it’s unclear just how many bedrooms and bathrooms are in Anthony’s home, this one comes with a king-sized bed, a fireplace, a sitting area and two Nelson Makamo paintings.

Shoe Room

“I collect shoes because I wear shoes, to be honest with you,” Anthony told AD. “I don’t collect them to just let them sit. I collect them to wear them. I’m an active collector. In wine, I collect to drink. In sneakers, I collect to wear, in clothes I collect to wear.”

Powder Room

Complete with Muhammad Ali wallpaper, this half bathroom boasts a round gold mirror and marble sink with matching gold hardware.

Meditation Room

Standing as the only room without artwork, this “mindful” meditation room is a calm respite from all the hustle and bustle of the outside world, complete with a standing waterfall and sound bowls.

“I’ve been able to do that [meditate] for a while, so it helps me. I recommend it. And I recommend you to find you a sanctuary like this where you could get away for a couple minutes a day and breathe and get your mind right and reset and bounce back,” Anthony said.

Kiyan Anthony’s Room

Inside the sleeping quarters of Anthony’s 19-year-old son Kiyan, his room boasts jerseys of his “uncles” Dywane Wade, Michael Jordan and LeBron James, along with artwork of Trayvon Martin, Malcom X and his own school sports trophies.
